Home Made Bread

  • 500g strong white bread flour

  • pinch of salt

  • 10g oil

  • 20g yeast

  • 30g milk powder

  • 290ml warm water

  • Place all the dry ingredients in a bowl.

  • In a jug mix together the water, yeast and oil.

  • In a bowl add the milk powder, flour add salt and make a well in the centre then pour all the liquid into it.

  • Stir around with your hand untill it is combined.

  • At this point it should be quirte sticky, if its too sticky add a little more flour. 

  • Pour all contents onto a clean surface covered in flour then start kneading it in.

  • Fold the Dough in half then strench with the palm of your hand, carry on this process for ten minutes (adding a little flour at a time) untill the dough is strenchy and soft.

  • Mould the dough into two balls and place them on a large baking tray on grease proof paper and leave the to of them in a warm place for 1-2 hours untill they have doubled in size.

  • When you leave it to rise preheat the oven to 200 degreas celcius.

  • When it has doubled in size, carefully score it 2 or 3 times then place in the middle of the oven for 20 minutes then check it.

  • If its golden brown,  pick it up with a hot cloth and tap the bottom of it.  If it really sounds hollow, its done. If its isn't put it back in for another 5-10 minutes untill it sounds hollow when you tap it.

  • Leave to cool for an hour thn slice to desired pieces.
